Privacy

Privacy, written like a product promise.

Weels is designed around a simple posture: read, save, and explore without an account, ad profile, or tracking layer.

Effective April 29, 2026

No tracking model

No accounts, no third-party ads, no cross-app tracking, and no ATT prompt.

Local-first reading

Saved articles, app preferences, and summary counters are stored on device.

Apple purchases

Gold purchases use Apple In-App Purchase with RevenueCat entitlement sync.

1. Overview

Weels is a native iPhone reading and discovery app designed with privacy in mind. We do not require you to create an account, and we minimize the data we process.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require account registration.
  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We do not use third-party advertising.
  • We do not track users across apps or websites.
  • We do not display an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
  • We do not access your camera, microphone recording, contacts, photos, or precise location.

3. Information Stored On Your Device

Weels stores certain data locally on your device:

  • Saved articles and reading/library state
  • Offline cached content (for Weels Gold users)
  • AI summary usage counters
  • App preferences and settings

This data is stored using iOS storage (SwiftData, UserDefaults, app container files). It remains on your device and is not transmitted to Weels servers.

4. Purchases and Subscriptions

Weels offers optional in-app purchases (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) under “Weels Gold.”

  • All purchases are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase.
  • We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlement status.
  • RevenueCat and Apple may process purchase history and transaction data per their policies.
  • Weels does not receive full payment card details.

5. Content Sources and Network Requests

Weels fetches public content from Wikipedia, TMDB, NASA, The Met, Smithsonian, Open Library, ZenQuotes, and image providers. Those services may receive standard technical request information (IP address, user agent) per their own policies.

6. On-Device AI Summaries

  • AI summaries are optional.
  • Generated on-device using Apple Foundation Models on supported devices.
  • Weels does not send article text to a Weels server for AI summarization.
  • Availability depends on device, iOS version, Apple Intelligence settings, and model availability.

7. Offline Content

Weels Gold users may cache articles locally for offline reading. Remove saved items in the app. Deleting the app removes all local data.

8. Children's Privacy

Weels is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Data Retention

Local data remains on device until removed by you or by deleting the app. Purchase data is retained by Apple/RevenueCat per their policies.
